Hermes Agent hosting

Cheap Hermes Agent Hosting from $5 a Month, AI Included

Updated 10 October 2026

Hermes Agent is free software. Running it is not free. Someone has to pay for the machine, someone has to pay for the AI model, and someone has to keep it all alive. The cheapest option is the one where those three costs add up to the least, not the one with the lowest sticker price.

This page breaks the monthly cost into those three parts, shows what ReadyHermes charges for each, and says plainly when a cheap plan is the wrong choice. ReadyHermes is an independent hosting service. It is not affiliated with Nous Research, the team that makes Hermes Agent.

What “cheap” should mean

Most price comparisons stop at the server. That is the smallest honest number, not the real one. The real monthly cost of running Hermes Agent has three parts:

  1. The machine. Something has to run the agent around the clock.
  2. The AI model. Every reply is generated by a model, and that usage is billed.
  3. Your time. Setup, updates, restarts, backups and fixing things when they break.

A plan that looks cheap on part one can be expensive on parts two and three. The sections below take them one at a time.

Part one: the machine

If you self-host, you rent a VPS or use a computer of your own. Hermes Agent’s install is one command on Linux, macOS or WSL2. For an agent that keeps answering while your laptop sleeps, though, the messaging gateway has to stay running. In practice that means a server you maintain.

For a reference point, Hostinger lists a one-click Hermes Agent VPS template. As listed on Hostinger’s site on 10 October 2026 (US prices, which vary by region and promotion), the smallest plan, KVM 1, is $6.49 a month on a two-year term, renewing at $11.99, with 1 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM and 50 GB of NVMe storage. Hostinger also lists a managed Hermes Agent at a $5.99 a month intro price, renewing at $11.99, also on a two-year term.

Those are fair deals, and the VPS gives you more RAM and disk per dollar than ReadyHermes Lite does. If the machine were the only cost, a VPS would often win on specs. It is not the only cost. There is a full side-by-side in ReadyHermes vs Hostinger.

On ReadyHermes the machine is part of the plan price. Lite is $5 a month. Pro is $10 a month. You do not rent a server, you do not pick a region, and there is nothing to install.

Part two: the AI model

This is the part people forget. Hermes Agent does not think on its own. It sends your messages to a language model and pays per use. If you self-host, you bring your own provider account and key, and the bill goes to you. Chatty agents, long documents and scheduled jobs that run every morning all add to it. The amount depends on the model you pick and how much you use it, so check your provider’s current rates rather than trusting a number from a hosting page.

On ReadyHermes, AI usage is included on both plans. The model is DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. Fair-use limits apply, so it is not unlimited. Pro does not come with a bigger AI allowance than Lite. The difference between the plans is the machine, not the model.

That makes the monthly bill predictable. You pay $5 or $10, and there is no second invoice from a model provider unless you choose to add one.

Part three: your time

Self-hosting is free in money and costs hours. You install, you configure the model, you set up the Telegram or Discord gateway, you keep the OS patched, you set up backups, and you notice when the process has died. If you enjoy that, it is a hobby, not a cost. If you do not, put an honest price on your hours before calling it cheap.

ReadyHermes handles the server, the updates and the monitoring for you, around the clock. Your agent is ready about a minute after you sign up. You can connect Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, WeChat or Feishu/Lark from the dashboard. The longer comparison is in self-hosting vs managed hosting for Hermes Agent.

What $5 and $10 get you

Both plans are billed monthly, cancel any time. Each account gets its own dedicated Hermes Agent with its own memory and skills, not a shared chatbot. Prices exclude local tax where it applies.

PlanPriceCPUMemoryStorageAI usage
Free trial$0, no card1 vCPU2 GB10 GBIncluded
Lite$5 a month1 vCPU2 GB10 GBIncluded (DeepSeek V4.1 Flash), fair use
Pro$10 a month2 vCPU4 GB40 GBIncluded (DeepSeek V4.1 Flash), fair use

The free trial is 30 minutes of Lite, and it needs no card. The clock starts when the agent first runs. When it ends the agent pauses. You have 24 hours to choose a plan and keep it, with its memory and files, or it is deleted.

Either plan includes long-term memory, skills the agent writes for itself, scheduled jobs, web search, a real web browser and its own Linux computer. Pro is the same agent resized in place, so you can switch any time without starting over.

What “AI included” actually means

It means you do not need an API key to start. The agent answers using DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, and the cost of that is covered by your plan, within fair-use limits. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to paste.

It does not mean unlimited. Fair-use limits exist, and it does not mean you get the best model on the market. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash is the one we include. If you want a different model, there is another route.

On paid plans you can bring your own key. In the dashboard’s Model key section you paste a key from OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, Qwen, Z.AI, Moonshot, MiniMax and others, or point to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint with a public https address. One tiny test message checks the key first, billed by your provider, and your provider bills you directly for all later usage. You can switch back to the included AI whenever you like.

Ways to keep the cost low

  • Try the free trial first. Thirty minutes, no card. Ask it to do the thing you actually want. If it does, you know before paying.
  • Start on Lite. At $5 it covers chat, memory, scheduled jobs and web search. Move to Pro only if you hit the limits of 2 GB of memory or 10 GB of storage. The switch is in place, any time.
  • Use the included AI until it stops being enough. A second bill from a model provider is only worth it if you need a specific model.
  • Bring your own key if you already pay for one. If you have credit with a provider, or you want a model we do not include, paste it in. You keep the hosting price and pay the provider for usage.
  • Keep the work scheduled and specific. “Every weekday at 8am send me the five biggest moves in my industry” is a small, predictable job. Open-ended research on huge documents is not.
  • Cancel when you are done. There is no long-term commitment. After cancelling, the agent works until the end of the paid period, then stops, and is deleted 7 days later unless you subscribe again.

When cheap is the wrong choice

Lite is built to be inexpensive. It is not built for everything.

  • Heavy browsing or big files. If the agent will drive the browser a lot, work through large spreadsheets or PDFs, or keep many files, 2 GB of memory and 10 GB of storage will feel tight. Pro gives you 2 vCPU, 4 GB of memory and 40 GB.
  • You want maximum specs per dollar. A VPS beats Lite on RAM and disk for the money. If you are comfortable running it yourself, that is a real advantage.
  • You want full control. Self-hosting means your own machine, your own configuration and your own choice of everything. A hosted plan is a managed product, and you work within it. Bot tools gives you file access, SSH over your own Tailscale network, an OpenAI-compatible API and backups, but it is still not root on hardware you own.
  • You need a particular model every time. The included AI is DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. You can bring your own key, but then the model bill is yours.

If you are unsure, Lite is the safer first step. It costs $5, and Pro is one switch away.

Questions

What is the cheapest way to host Hermes Agent?

On price alone, self-hosting on a small VPS can be cheaper per month in raw specs, but you also pay for model usage and your own time. ReadyHermes starts at $5 a month with the machine, the AI model usage (fair use) and server upkeep all included, which makes the monthly total easy to predict.

Is Hermes Agent itself free?

Yes. Hermes Agent is free, open-source software made by Nous Research. What costs money is the machine that runs it and the AI model that powers its replies. ReadyHermes is an independent hosting service and is not affiliated with Nous Research.

Does the $5 plan include AI usage?

Yes. AI usage is included on both Lite ($5) and Pro ($10). The model is DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, with fair-use limits. Pro does not get a bigger AI allowance than Lite; the difference is the machine: 2 vCPU, 4 GB of memory and 40 GB of storage instead of 1 vCPU, 2 GB and 10 GB.

Can I use my own API key to save money?

On paid plans you can paste your own key from providers such as OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, Qwen, Z.AI, Moonshot or MiniMax, or use any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Your provider then bills you directly for that usage, on top of the plan price. You can switch back to the included AI at any time.

Can I start on Lite and upgrade later?

Yes. Pro is the same agent resized in place, so you can switch at any time without starting over. Start on Lite, and move to Pro only if you need more memory, storage or CPU for heavy browsing or large files.

Is there a long commitment or a free trial?

There is no long-term commitment. Plans are billed monthly and you can cancel any time. The free trial is 30 minutes of Lite with no card. When it ends the agent pauses, and you have 24 hours to choose a plan before it is deleted.

Is Hostinger cheaper than ReadyHermes?

As listed on Hostinger’s site on 10 October 2026, its one-click Hermes Agent VPS starts at $6.49 a month on a two-year term, renewing at $11.99, with more RAM and disk than Lite. ReadyHermes is $5 a month, billed monthly with no long commitment and no renewal jump, with AI included. Prices vary by region and promotion, so check both sites.
